Summer Camp 2020 UPDATE
Freestyle America has conducted freestyle and freeskiing summer camps continuously since 1983. This distinguishes Freestyle America as the oldest continuously operating freestyle camp in the country. In our 38 year history, 1000’s of young athletes have attended Freestyle America programs.
Therefore, it is with great sadness that Suzi, Wesley, and I have come to the difficult decision to suspend our programs for the summer of 2020.
Freestyle America Camps and Training programs prioritize the health and well-being of our athletes well beyond our efforts to mitigate the risks involved in acrobatic skill training. In reviewing what is known and unknown about the dangers of the Coronavirus to children and adults, we have concluded that no amount of careful preparation and operation protocols can eliminate the threat of infection and transmission of this disease during camp.
While our 2020 summer programs are suspended, Freestyle America is committed to providing opportunities for learning and developing the skills of freestyle skiing and freeskiing. We will continue to learn about implementing the medical, behavioral, and regulatory processes that can allow for the safe operation of our programs. We shall reintroduce our programming accordingly. Currently, we are targeting early September to resume our programs.
We shall remain in touch with athletes and families about our future programs. Freestyle America coaches look forward to our day of re-opening, and to reconnecting with our athletes.
Those who have registered and paid for camp this summer may expect to receive a full refund. We share in the disappointment among those expecting a week or two of learning, improving, making friends, and having fun. We will be back!
The Coaches of Freestyle America wish you all a safe and healthy summer.
